If you have some questions about the process or need a little guidance getting started, don’t horry – you aren’t alone. Here you’ll find some of the most common questions that I have received when helping people set up their website. Take some time to browse through them to see if your questions get answered. If you still want to ask a question directly, click here to send us an email.
Where Do I Find My Username And Password For Websavers?
Once you sign up for the hosting account you will be emailed your account information that you choose during the setup process. You will always be able to go back and find this information in your email that you used to sign up for the account.
What If I Already Have A Domain Name?
That’s no problem at all! When you’re going through the sign up process for the hosting, there is a button that says “I already own this domain.” Just check that off instead and you’re good to go.
Once you complete the order for the hosting, you’ll receive an email with the name server information. You’ll need to update the name servers for your domain. They will be something like:
The 23 and 24 may be different so be sure to check your email or login to your account to view the correct ones!
Why Do You Recommend Websavers Hosting?
There are lots of reasons I recommend Websavers. Here are just a few:
1. It’s our service! And since we want you to renew your services with us, we have an interest in you doing well with your website.
2. It was built for bloggers just like you. Our WordPress Hosting is optimized beautifully for speed and SEO. From their one-click installer, to their advanced support and knowledge, they specialize in hosting blogs for people just like you.
3. Rock solid services. At the end of the day you need to make sure your blog is going to be online. With over 10 years experience in infrastructure and hosting, Websavers just does it right.
What If I Don’t Like Websavers Hosting?
There is a 30-day, 100% money back guarantee for your hosting account. All you need to do is let us know and we’ll refund your payment. That said, we’re the best solution in Canada (and maybe the world) for setting up your website and I’m sure you’ll enjoy the service and support.
Can I Use A Different Web Host?
Definitely! This guide is completely free and can technically be used on any hosting account. However, we won’t be able to provide you with the same personal support or help you throughout the process if you get stuck. Since Websavers Hosting is our service, it only makes sense that we support only those who use it.
How Much Does Hosting Cost?
The blog hosting plan (Carbon) starts at $60 per year and a domain is just $20. If you decide to pre-pay for two or three years you will receive even more of a discount. This is the cheapest hosting you’ll find for the quality of service that is provided.
Are There Any Hidden Costs or Fees?
No hidden fees. Some of you may opt to get the ID or Privacy protection on your domain name so that your personal information isn’t displayed in the whois. This is an extra $10 if you do choose to go that route.
I Setup My Account With Websavers But Not Sure What To Do
Don’t worry about that! Most people who are just starting out get a little lost and confused – it’s normal! If you already have your Websavers account setup you can continue along to the installing WordPress page. If you get stuck and need help getting the package setup or getting anything installed please don’t hesitate to contact us. We have a 100% success rate at helping people get setup quickly but it is all done one step at a time so that you do not get too overwhelmed.
How Do I Design My Site?
If you’re like most people, you don’t! That’s the great thing about WordPress is you don’t actually need to know anything about web design, html, css, or anything else like that. All you need to do is follow along with the videos in the design and theming section where I explain WordPress themes and choosing a theme for your blog. The pre-set themes are how your blog will look once they are installed and setup.
Can I Change The Design Of My Blog Later?
Absolutely! You can always change the theme of your blog whenever you wish without losing any of the existing content and blog posts. This makes getting started really simple.
Can I Change The Colors Of My Blog?
Maybe. Most paid themes allow you to change colors to a variety of pre-created “styles” or color schemes. Although some free themes do have this functionality, most do not. If you would like me to see if your theme can easily change colors chat with me or send me an email and I’ll let you know.
Can I Add My Logo To The Theme?
If you are using a free theme, it’s going to be a little difficult to add in a logo. Some free themes do let you add entire header images that you can put a logo in. However, a lot of the free themes only let you have a text-based title or logo. Almost all premium themes give you an option to add in a logo.
I don’t mind taking a closer look and even adding your logo to your site if you’re having some troubles (as long as it’s possible). If you want to send me an email don’t hesitate to ask.
Can I Change The Fonts On My Site?
Unless you have a premium theme, you won’t be able to easily change fonts unless you know some CSS. If you know some web programming (like CSS and HTML) you should be able to change fonts on your free theme, otherwise what you see is usually what you get. However, almost all premium themes have this functionality built in.
How Do I Choose The Best Theme?
Don’t over-complicate it. I can’t stress that enough. Although you’ll want to spend a lot of time choosing the perfect theme, your time is better spent choosing a good theme for now, and getting started on your content. Once you have a feel for blogging and creating content you can always go back and try out different themes later.
Promotion & Marketing
How Do I Add Social Media To My Blog?
Adding social media to your blog is quite simple. I cover this in the customizations section where I both add share buttons and create profile social icon links on the blog.
When Will I Start Showing Up In Google?
If you aren’t yet appearing in Google don’t worry, that’s normal. It can take some time to get properly indexed and crawled by Google, especially if your blog is fairly new. You don’t need to do anything in particular, Google will find you. To speed things you up can link your Google+ profile to your website but ultimately Google will eventually find and index you.
In the beginning you likely won’t show up for anything more than your actual blog name and domain name. But as you build some authority and continue to publish content you should notice that you start to rank for more of a variety of keywords.
What Is The Best Tool For Email Marketing?
There are two really great email marketing suites out there that I recommend for bloggers. Both of which I’ve used and really enjoy. The first is MailChimp and the second is AWeber. They both have their pros and cons.
If you’re just getting started and you want to keep spending to a minimum then start with MailChimp – it’s free for the first 500 subscribers. We show you how to add an email opt-in box on your blog with MailChimp, right here.
AWeber is a little more robust and has a bit more functionality. It’s the one I use for my bigger blogs, but I continue to use both on a daily basis.
Making Money With Your Blog
When Can I Start To Make Money With My Blog?
When you start getting traffic. If no one is visiting or reading your blog then you’re not going to make any money. Instead of focusing on money in the beginning, focus on growing your readers and audience. The better the content you can create and the more engaging you can be the easier it will come. Once you start seeing a bit of traffic you should be able to start making some money if you have some form of advertising on your site.
How Much Money Can I Make With My Site?
I have friends that make nothing with their blog, and I have friends that make over $20,000 per month with their blog. It varies a lot, but the one thing that’s consistent is that the more value you can add to your readers and audience – the more problems you can solve or the more help you can be, the more money you will ultimately make in the long run.
If you have Google Adsense installed on your blog you’ll start to notice the odd click here and there once you grow your audience. As soon as you’re making a few hundred dollars a month from Google Adsense it might be time to explore other options as it’s possible that you might be able to make even more.
What Is The Easiest Way To Make Money?
Definitely through a pay-per-click program like Google Adsense. I show you how to add advertisements to your blog in a video right here. It’s the quickest and easiest way to start making money with your blog.
You’ll notice that you can start to make a few cents a day with as little as a handful of visitors.
