High Speed

Rather than packing thousands on a server and bogging it down, we artificially limit the number of customers and domains that we host on each of our servers to ensure they run as fast as possible for everyone.

Competitive Pricing

Our prices are set to compete with the myriad of reseller hosting companies worldwide. Find someone lower? Send us a link to the plan and we'll draw up a comparison and do our best to match or beat the plan spec-by-spec.

Top Notch Security

Strong passwords are enforced for all services and FTP and Mail services are only accepted via SSL/TLS encrypted connections. This means the chances of having you or your customers’ passwords stolen are dramatically reduced.

With all reseller plans you get unlimited subdomains, email accounts, MySQL databases and secure FTP accounts. Your account is hosted on a semi-private server, meaning you only share resources with a select few. We’ll even migrate up to 10 domains over free of charge! *Click button for details.

Why Choose Canadian Reseller Hosting?

"If you can host as many domains as you want with the Titanium plan, why would you need reseller hosting?"

Ever hear stories from a client about how a web developer ran away with their website by failing to provide them with access to their hosting? You can do better! With our Plesk Reseller Hosting, you can enjoy the passive income of providing your own hosting for your clients' websites while also providing them the peace of mind of having 24/7 access to their own data.

With reseller level access to Plesk hosting you can not only host multiple domains but also take advantage of the security benefits that come with domain subscription segregation and provide clients with their own panel access. This ensures you have direct access to all of your client's hosting plans within one Plesk account, and that clients can easily set up their own FTP and email accounts and manage their web applications if they should ever wish to.

As your hosting needs grow, we've got what you need to continue that upwards trajectory with three carefully-selected resource bundles plus the option to migrate everything to your own completely scalable VPS using the Plesk Migration Manager.

Common Uses For Reseller Hosting

Designers & Developers

Our reseller plans provide designers or developers the convenience of creating accounts for their customers on the fly without having to pay us any more than the flat reseller hosting rate.

No need to have your customers sign up with us (unless they’re registering domains, of course) and learn the hosting lingo; just log in and create a new customer whenever you like.

Web Marketing Firms

The performance of your customers’ sites have a direct effect on their SERP rankings. Don’t leave them on a server with thousands of other customers, set them up with our blazing fast hosting for the best in compatibility and extreme performance. We host considerably less customers on each server than our competitors to ensure the absolute best in performance within a shared hosting environment.

Starter Web Hosts

Looking to get started in web hosting, but don’t have hundreds to shell out and weeks of your time to take a crash course in Linux server management? We don’t blame you. Let us manage the back-end Linux security configurations while you focus on growing your customer base. You can learn at your own pace and spend much less than a dedicated server would run you by making use of our reseller hosting plans.

Add-on Services

Management, migration, or creation - we're here to make web services easy.

Here’s what we did to fix it…” With Hands-On Support, you can rest easy knowing we’ve got you covered.

Want to impress your clients with blazing fast website performance without having to go through hours of complicated caching setup? What makes us better...

You might be wondering... how is Websavers better than the thousands of other hosts out there?

Unlike most of the 'other guys', we use the latest in high performance web server tech, including an nginx reverse proxy for high performance plus completely custom in-house nginx rules to work with industry standard caching solutions.

We've also got default support for HTTP/2 (some servers are NPN only) alongside free Let's Encrypt SSL certificates and out-of-the-box server-side PCI compliance on the vast majority of our servers.

We also artificially limit our server density, ensuring the resources are there to power any site with even the most basic of caching tech enabled through nearly any traffic spike.

Help Options

Most web hosts offer either low quality DIY hosting or pricey managed hosting. When the time comes that you need either more or less help, you're out of luck without a difficult provider change.

Here at Websavers, you can have the powerful hosting tools that often come with expensive managed hosting at DIY hosting prices. Don't waste your money paying more for tools where you still have to do everything yourself! Only pay more when you need actual Hands-On Support.

Most web hosts lock down certain aspects of their control panel and client area, either because they don't have the software to provide the functionality or because they want to force you to contact them to make changes, to make them seem necessary.

Instead, we code and integrate hosting software systems to ensure that you've got the power to control anything and everything related to your hosting without requiring our help.

We also provide the following features with all hosting accounts: automatic web app install, import, update, backup and cloning. Some of these options are only found with expensive premium web hosts!

Expanding Knowledge

We have an extensive wealth of searchable DIY guides and troubleshooting articles to help you solve just about any problem 24/7. Nearly every support ticket you create is examined for any indication that our self-help guides didn't work for you, which we then turn into actionable changes for those articles.

It's because of this endlessly improving support feedback loop that our clients find they rarely need to contact us: they get the answers to their questions instantly!

Powerful Backup Options

We create daily disaster recovery backups so that in the event of complete server failure, we can recover entire systems. You can request data restores from our disaster recovery backups at any time, though it can take 2-12 hours for us to fulfill such a request and there is a small fee for recovery unless you've got Hands-On Support.

However we also provide you with access to the Plesk Backup Manager which allows you to configure incremental backups to the cloud provider of your choice! The backup manager ensures you have access to restore your data, should you need it, at any time.

Still not convinced?

Sold yet?

Whether it's our 30-day risk-free guarantee, world-class support, blazing-fast Canada-based servers, Hands-On Support services, switching bonus, or incredibly low prices, it's hard not to find a reason to give us a try today.

What version of MySQL is used?

As of May 2022 we use MariaDB 10.5 on all servers.

Please see the MariaDB Knowledgebase for differences / incompatibilities between MariaDB and MySQL.

What versions of PHP are available?

As of Aug 2022, we support PHP 7.4, 8.0, and 8.1.

Versions 5.6, 7.0-7.3 are available on some servers, but discouraged.

All supported versions are kept updated to the latest point releases. We default to PHP 7.4 or 8.0 and you have the option to change to a lower or higher version, when available.

Is memcached or redis used?

Due to known security issues with using memory caching services like memcached or redis on shared servers, we do not use memcached to improve performance on our shared servers. You are welcome to use it or redis on a VPS.

For WordPress on shared hosting we use and recommend (and pre-install) the free file-based object caching solution Docket Cache.

You can read more about the utilities we use for performance improvement in the "What makes us better..." section above, including custom nginx rules to work with common WordPress caching plugins and the option to enable nginx level caching.

Do you enable a CDN for us like MaxCDN or CloudFlare?

No. Because CDNs do not always result in faster performance, and because they make troubleshooting issues much more complex, we do not automatically enable any CDN services.

Our security solutions are pre-configured to work with CloudFlare.

Read more about this here.

Can I use private/branded nameservers like

Yes, you can configure branded nameservers. Please keep in mind that if you do this, all DNS/Name Server/IP changes are entirely up to you to apply.

Is the hosting on SSDs (Solid State Disks)?

Yes all of our services (except Exchange Mail) are hosted on SSDs in RAID5 or RAID1 with at least 2x read performance improvement and single drive failure tolerance.

Some are hosted on SSDs with NVMe connectivity for even greater IO performance.

Most websites don't see improvements from the read/write speed advantages of SSDs because read/write speeds are rarely maxed out; this is particularly true when using a RAID, which most hosts do. It's primarily the dramatic improvement in IOPS that SSDs provide that ensures top performance.

Although NVMe connected SSDs will result in faster read/write performance for the operating system as a whole, website load times are not commonly dramatically improved. Instead you might see minor improvements during peak times.

What are the limits on other resources like subdomains, databases, and outgoing mail volume?
  • Subdomains: You may use unlimited subdomains on all hosting plans.
  • Databases: The number of databases is listed under each plan above.
  • Database Sizes: There is no explicit table or database size limit, however if the size of your database begins to impede performance on a shared server, we'll let you know that you will need to pare down the size of the database by finding the cause of the increase in size and fixing it, or upgrade to a VPS to continue hosting the database on our shared hosting. With WordPress, a database greater than roughly 500MB - 1GB typically begins to impede server performance.
  • Outgoing Mail Limits: There are limits on the number of messages you're allowed to send each hour. See our knowledge base article for the current limits and what is considered acceptable use of our mail services.
Do you use cPanel and Softaculous?

No, but we have better alternatives!

We've been using Plesk, an alternative to cPanel, since our inception in 2004. We find it to be a simpler to use and more powerful control panel that better integrates with the host Operating System.

We use Installatron to power our 1-click web apps utility. Installatron has less overall web scripts available, but offers a better user interface over Softaculous along with more functionality.

Do you supply backups or do I?

We do our own disaster recovery backups, but we do strongly recommend setting up your own backups. You can configure application-level backups or account-wide backups within Plesk and set them up to backup to the cloud service of your choice, like OneDrive or Dropbox. Read more on configuring backups here.

How many PHP processes do I get?

We allow between 3 and 5 active simultaneous PHP processes per domain. Should your site make use of all of those processes simultaneously for a lengthy period of time (e.g.: 3+ hours) and that CPU usage detrimentally affect the performance of the server, your domain may be reduced to 1 active process until you're able to reduce its CPU usage or transition to a VPS for more resources.

Important note: if you use static page caching, and we strongly recommend that you do, website requests will never need to reach dynamic PHP processes for the majority (or all) of your website visitors. Here's how to enable static page caching with WordPress. With caching enabled and a well optimized site you can achieve up to 100k page views daily and up to at least 3,000 simultaneous visitors (as per Google Analytics) without any detrimental effects or changes to the number of PHP processes available to your site.

Do you protect your server IP reptuation for email?

Yes, we do. We have a triple layer of protection on our servers to protect their IP reputation:

1. Outbound mail volume limitations

Plesk helps ensure we limit the number of messages that can be sent per hour and per day from each domain. We set these limits to sane values such that very few of our customers ever reach them, but also so that if an account should begin emitting spam, very few spam messages make it out in any given hour or day.

2. Outbound mail relay spam scanner

For the messages that do make it past our volume limitations, they're all scanned by a custom mail relay that checks the messages for spam content and drops anything overly suspicious.

3. IP reputation and blacklist reports

We receive notifications every 24 hours pertaining to our SMTP servers' reputation from the 3rd party mail scanning utility MX Toolbox. Should their excellent standing drop over time, we'll be made aware and act fast to resolve the issue.

I'm not Canadian, should I use Canadian Hosting?

Our servers are centrally located just outside of Montreal, Canada. With OVH's redundant backbone network, we get fantastic performance (super-low TTFB) to all of North America (30-60ms) and even the UK (70ms)!

Astoundingly, our server performance optimizations are so good that our users in New Zealand - the nearly-literal opposite side of the globe - find our hosting services faster than most NZ hosts.

Privacy & Security

Having your data in Canada means that alongside proper use of secure protocols, the legal system of other countries can’t overreach to gain access to your data; it’s subject only to Canadian laws, which for the time being are a bit more strict than US laws when it comes to privacy.

Canadian Dollars

Everyone pays in Canadian dollars, so if you're Canadian you're not losing 25-30% by paying in USD.

If you're American, get up to 30% extra buying power in the exchange from USD to CAD.

What kind of performance can I expect? TTFB?

General performance varies considerably from site to site as it very much depends on the functionality you're using.

For example WordPress with highly dynamic plugins like WooCommerce and LearnDash will add to the site's load times regardless of where the site is hosted.

As of Apr 2022 we clocked a fresh WordPress install on our shared hosting with WP Super Cache (static page cache) and Docket Cache (object caching) enabled with the following load times:

  • 45ms front-end
  • 285ms back-end

If you wish to compare with your existing host, try installing WordPress fresh with the above-noted configuration to a sub-domain or test domain to compare.
