Set Up Website Backups with EazyBackup’s E3 Service

e3 eazybackup

In keeping with our mission to host everything in Canada, we’re thrilled to recommend EazyBackup’s E3 storage as an S3-compatible storage provider. They provide low-cost, high-quality storage, hosted in Canada (by a Canadian company), for as low as $9/mo for 1TB of storage. Additional storage is billed incrementally, so you only pay for what you use above that 1TB.

What does S3-compatible mean? Why is it important? Can I eat it?

S3-compatible means that it uses the same connection style as Amazon’s S3 storage. This is important because our backup systems (both Plesk and 1-Click Web Apps) can integrate with S3-compatible storages. That means you can use these connections to get your backups stored safely in your own EazyBackup account for a low monthly fee, and can use them to restore your site in the event of any emergency or unforeseen issues. Unfortunately, it is not edible. We’re sorry to be the bearers of bad news on that front.

How do I get started with EazyBackup’s E3 service?

This signup link will take you to the appropriate signup page on EazyBackup’s site.

Once you’re signed up for your free trial (oh, did I mention, they offer a 30 day free trial?), follow these directions to get the information you’ll need to connect to the storage:

  1. You will need to visit the ‘Buckets’ page to create a bucket for your data.
  2. Visit the ‘Access Keys’ page – copy the Service URL (API endpoint URL)
  3. You will need to decrypt your access key and secret key, enter your account password to decrypt the keys. At this point you should be able to copy the keys and API URL to your application.

That’s it with EazyBackup – next up you can connect your Websavers service, depending on which backup method you prefer:
